Ten Frame Podcast #062 - Courtney C. Tromwan
Kevin and I have a warm and spirited conversation with Courtney C. Trowman, an artist living in Savannah, GA. Courtney gives us a glimpse into her previous life as a world-traveling modern dancer and teaches us about her motivations and artistic process. We take some slight detours into collecting trash as inspiration, pairing wine with art, and maybe an ostrich farm...

Vibes, a solo show
Courtney’s been spending most of her creative time exploring a deeper interpretation of her abstracts, bringing even more emotional processing into her pieces, and honing her intuitive flow. It’s important to her to stay just outside of her comfort zone so she can broaden her range, rather than committing to a specific niche. All of which is what she is bringing to 208 Wine Bar with her new show, Vibes.
Spectrum, a solo show
It’s been two years since Courtney’s last show at the gallery inside the Savannah Jewish Educational Alliance community center. In that time, she has become a Certified Therapeutic Art Life Coach and been exploring a “spectrum” of colors, new styles and techniques. That is what she is bringing to this month-long May exhibition.

Conversations with Courtney C. Trowman
In my art practice, I try and take new risks all the time in the hopes of learning a new technique or creating one! I’m learning to balance my perfectionism with non-attachment when I’m testing out something new. I try to view it purely as an experiment, and then the risk becomes a little less scary and a bit more fun!

Meet Courtney Trowman
“Even though I drew a lot as a kid, pretty decently, for some reason as I got older I did not trust my ability and I never took any more art classes. I became much more interested in collage and 3D type assemblage in my 20s, with random items I had found.
I will say though that I kind of regret that now. I regret the fact that I allowed my self-doubt to overpower me that much, that I became my own obstacle. Certainly, I could take art classes now to improve my sketching/painting skills (and I might), although I’m having so much fun at the moment exploring the unique niche I’ve created for myself!”
